James Rester, Horn
A native of Monroeville, Alabama and a veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Rester is a nationally recognized orchestral horn player and soloist. He has performed and recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
James Rester has been lauded for his “fine horn solos,” “impressively high passages,” and “bravura style” in his performances both as a principal orchestral horn player and as a soloist. He currently holds the seats of Principal Horn in Lake Placid Sinfonietta, Second Horn in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Third Horn in the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, and Fourth Horn in New Bedford Symphony.
In addition to performing orchestrally, he has been a product development consultant and machinist for Houser Mouthpiece Works and he is a dealer for Stork Custom Mouthpieces. Mr. Rester recently accepted appointment as the Horn Teacher Artist at the University of Rhode Island.
