John Krause (Double Bass)

John Krause began playing the double bass at the age of ten in public school in Upstate New York. In high school, he was twice named to the New York State All-State Orchestra, becoming the principal in his senior year. A winner of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, John attended The Boston Conservatory where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Double Bass Performance while studying with Lawrence Wolfe and Thomas Van Dyck. While in Boston, John was a member of The Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for its first two seasons, which gave critically acclaimed concerts in Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and The Royal Concertgebouw, among others. He attended Eastern Music Festival during the Summer of 2015. John is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Double Bass Performance as a Fellow at Oklahoma State University under the tutelage of George Speed, and performs regularly with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
