Katherine McLemore, Oboe

Katherine McLemore has been an oboist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra for 11 years. She has also performed with the Lawton Symphony, the Enid-Phillips Symphony, the Tulsa Symphony and the Tulsa Opera orchestra. She maintains private oboe and piano studios, and has served on the faculties of the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist University.
Katherine received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude in oboe performance (with a minor in piano performance) from Oklahoma City University, where she was voted Outstanding Senior Woman in the OCU School of Music. She taught piano for the OCU Performing Arts Academy for many years; served as the accompanist for the Suzuki violin program; and has been a church pianist for many years. After receiving her degree at OCU, she studied oboe with Tess Miller at the Trinity College of Music in London, and with Sophia McKenna at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Katherine has participated in many summer music festivals, including the American Music Festival, the Greer Music Festival, the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, and the Sessione Senese per la Musica e l’Arte in Siena, Italy. While studying in London, she toured France with the Jeunesse Musicale, performing educational concerts for children. She has performed for the Palio Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy, and with the Concilium Chamber Group in St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London. She has attended the John Mack Oboe Camp and has performed in master classes with Joseph Robinson, Alex Klein, John Mack and Hansjörg Schellenberger.
Katherine has been employed by the Oklahoma Heritage Association, which operates the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, for nine years.
