Larry Reed, Bassoon

Larry Reed received his musical education at the University of Oklahoma, Indiana University in Bloomington, and the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He has performed extensively as a bassoonist with the Oklahoma Symphony and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic for over 40 years. He has also performed as Principal Bassoonist with the Lawton Philharmonic, the Waco (Texas) Symphony, the Plattville (Wisconsin) Symphony, and the Enid-Phillips Symphony, as well as other performances with the Austin Symphony, the Aspen Festival Orchestra and the Wichita Symphony. In addition, Larry has performed frequently as a pit musician in summer theatre productions at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma City.
Larry was Instructor of Bassoon and Music Theory at Baylor University from 1975-1980. From 2000-2003 he served as Instructor of Bassoon at Oklahoma City University. For almost 40 years he was a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch in Oklahoma City until retirement in December 2019.
